ooo.. the new transit meatwagon looks quite nice
i was in the back of an old one once...it wasnt very comfy (me being on the floor with a bobby sitting on me to keep me there probably didnt help the comfort factor)
(farscy got a little drunk and decided he was a traffic warden.... got arrested directing traffic on a 4 way crossing in the middle of town....went swimmingly well till i tried to tell the meatwagon where to go)

you realize that in terms of profit, Ford US has been carrying the entire burden for years now? if Ford UK is so good why haven’t they been able to make any money?

Different vans.
The Custom is between the Connect and the full size Transit.

Lol. I’d be happy in the U.K. or Canada.
Brexit, is just a hurdle. Once we’ve cleared the jump we can get on with our lives.

It’s not just Ford U.K., it’s Ford Europe.
Unfortunately the Transit is no longer made in the U.K. and has been made in Turkey for a few years now.
But I think what CoFL means is, why aren’t these being offered there.

because they wouldn’t sell.

Because people in the US don’t like small cars, at least that buy new.

The other Transits are doing well, but I think it’s also the fact there isn’t an often for them.
North America has the 15 and 25 year rule, also the Chicken Tax where as the U.K. and many other countries you only need add a rear foglight is there wasn’t one and split any dual use tail light and indicator combo.

You beautiful bastard! Unfortunately you are in a small minority of the US buying public. If there were only more of you!

I guess I don’t see what’s so “shit” about the fact that we don’t get the Tourneo Custom. It’s a passenger van, and almost nobody but fleet operators buys those. We get this already (and build it here too):
so what’s so great about this that we “need” it too?
yeah, the V362 is a bit smaller, but I doubt anyone in this country is looking for “a full size van but a bit smaller. Oh, and front wheel drive. ”

The Custom Tourneo is a people carrier yes, but there is also a van, twin crew cab, short and long wheel base, low roof and high roof.
L1H1 van
L2H1 van
L1H2 van
L2H2 van
L1
L2H1 crew cab
Tourneo L1
Tourneo L2
Some of those are pre-facelift and others post-facelift.

How is a Transit compared to an Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro? Our company Vivaro has done about 214000 km (mostly on the Autobahn) in three years and should probably be replaced soon.

The Ford Transit is the standard for vans here, they are ingrained in our culture.
Saying that, with Ford moving the Transit to Turkey a few years ago it’s invariably cheaper to buy vans built here such as the Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro France building the Renault, Fiat and Nissan variations).
Most ambulance services use the Renault or Fiat versions along with Mercedes Sprinters.
![]() 09/21/2019 at 05:02 |

There is also a Renault at work that is due for replacement. We’ve joked about getting the Fiat and the Nissan just to try out every version there is.

In the US, the full-size Transit is available in (they’re not called this here, though) L2H1, L2H2, L3H1, L3H2, L3H3, and L4H3. (The L2H1 and L3H1 replace the low-roof Econolines.) So, that removes some of the reason to have a Transit/Tourneo Connect here (as you don’t get L2H1 or L3H1).
Then, the US-market Transit Connect LWB is, except for width, basically the same size as the Transit Custom L1H1.
So, there’s basically two reasons for a Transit Custom to be in the US, that aren’t already served by the Transit Connect or the Transit : if you really need L1H2, or if you want the upcoming plug-in hybrid.

True, we get the Connect in van, ‘double cab in van’ and tourneo but only in L1H1 and L2H1.
I like the looks of the Transit Custom over the Transit Connect and Transit.
Give me a twin crew cab with a lift tail gate.
We also get the Trans it Courier that I guess creeps into the Transit Connect market.
Available is short and long wheel base, van, crew cab and tourneo.
